![]() | Voice of the Arctic Refuge Recorded by Kevin Colver, Bernie Krause & Martyn Stewart $9.99 The Arctic National Wildlife Refuge soundscape recordings have never before been systematically captured. In the late spring of 2006, Wild Sanctuary’s team of three recordists each staked out a different site for 10 days. At Beaufort Lagoon, located at the eastern edge of the “1002,” a sensitive area threatened with resource development in the Refuge, Dr. Kevin Colver endured severe weather conditions to capture glorious biophonies. Another site, Sunset Pass, further up the North Slope to the southwest of Beaufort Lagoon, was recorded by Martyn Stewart. And the third, just south of the Brooks Range some 35 air miles west of Arctic Village was recorded by Bernie Krause, who also led the team and initiated the 2006 Arctic Soundscape Project.
